This 10km race is open to everyone, from amateurs to competitors alike, in both timed and non-timed versions.

Running along the seafront, the Prom‘Classic is the first sporting event of the year on the Côte d’Azur. Close to 10,000 runners are expected on the Promenade des Anglais, which is celebrating its 200th anniversary this year! For 2024, as part of the race’s eco-responsible approach and in order to limit its impact on the environment, a collector’s t-shirt made in Europe will be offered as an optional extra to all runners.

The year 2023 is drawing to a close, giving way to a new year that promises even more exciting projects for the Hôtel West End. Indeed, this year has been full of events and news for the 4-star establishment, which is a member of 3A Hôtels La Collection. Here’s a look back at the highlights of 2023!

The year 2023 got off to a flying start for the West End hotel, which was awarded the Green Key label – the 1st ecolabel for tourist accommodation in France – after implementing a number of eco-responsible measures to reduce the impact of its activities on the environment. This distinction is the culmination of a number of important changes initiated within the hotel, such as better management of its water, electricity and waste consumption. The hotel also runs awareness-raising campaigns among its staff and guests to share its Green Attitude. In addition to this label, the hotel has also teamed up with Alchimistes, specialists in the recycling of food waste, to collect almost 3,000 kg of bio-waste, which is then transformed into compost.

Another highlight of the year: Pink October! For the 5th year running, the hotel has got involved in the campaign to raise awareness of the fight against breast cancer by offering a special package in the colours of the operation. What’s more, 25% of the cost of each stay booked was donated to the SOS Cancer du Sein association. This raised a total of €7904.

The hotel is no stranger to supporting a good cause! Once again this year, to help the underprivileged at Christmas, the hotel organised a toy collection for Secours Populaire des Alpes-Maritimes, open to the general public. Last year, more than 1,500 toys were collected thanks to this operation, known as Les Pères Noël Verts.

But the West End is also synonymous with cultural and artistic events. In 2023, the Festival Objectif Vidéo Nice (OVNI) once again took over the walls of the hotel, inviting artists to take over the rooms, windows and communal areas with their contemporary video works!

Last but not least, the now unmissable – and equally unusual – Opera evenings have returned to the hotel’s restaurant, Le Siècle. Based on the concept of singing waiters, these themed evenings are open to locals and visitors alike, who can enjoy a delicious menu prepared by the hotel’s Chef, Cyril Breteau, while listening to the greatest opera arias performed by two local artists.

From the beginning of December until 7 January 2024, the medieval village of Lucéram in the hinterland of Nice is hosting its traditional Circuit des Crèches. Built on a rocky outcrop, the village is staging the 26th edition of this annual event, eagerly awaited by locals and visitors alike. In all, no fewer than 450 cots will be taking over the village streets.

From the simplest to the most sophisticated, from the largest to the tiniest, the cots have been installed in every nook and cranny of the village, on the windows of homes, in the village church, at the oil mill, at the cot museum… as you can see, the cots are everywhere! This freely accessible tour invites visitors to wander through the narrow streets and discover unique and original creations: cots from around the world, contemporary cots, Provençal cots and many more.

This event, which attracts thousands of visitors every year, is organised by the “Association Maison de Pays de Lucéram et du Haut Paillon“. In less than an hour, you’ll go from a magnificent view of the Promenade des Anglais and the deep blue sea to the bucolic charm of the valleys of Nice and its authenticity.

Practicalities: The Nativity Scene Tour is open every day – and at weekends – from 10am to 12.30pm and from 2pm to 5.30pm. On Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, the tour will only be open in the afternoon.

Craft products, jewellery, santons, mulled wine, raclette, churros, waffles… the Christmas market is a great opportunity to find gift ideas for the festive season, but also to immerse yourself in the Christmas atmosphere by savouring gourmet treats with friends or family. Another not-to-be-missed attraction is the Giant Ferris Wheel, which has returned to its rightful place in the Christmas village, overlooking Nice from a memorable vantage point that’s sure to catch your eye!

Throughout December and into the New Year, there’s plenty of entertainment on offer too, including a Christmas parade, music concerts, DJ sets and many other festive events to make your stay in Nice a delight. The evening of 31 December will also be a great opportunity to revisit the greatest opera classics at Le Siècle restaurant. Lyric singers from the Côte d’Azur – Laurie Jauffret, Gilles San Juan and Mickael Guedj – will be hiding amongst the waiters to sing the most beautiful arias, from the Donna è Mobile from Rigoletto to the Brindisi from La Traviata. All in the splendid setting of the hotel, which overlooks the Promenade des Anglais and offers a breathtaking panorama of the Grande Bleue.

For a timeless moment to sip a drink away from the hustle and bustle of the city, or between two walks in Nice, head for Horse Guard, the bar at the Hôtel West End. Located on the ground floor of the hotel, in a former chapel, this cosy little bar has an intimate atmosphere, with wood panelling and period furniture, and offers a menu of ‘house’ cocktails to enjoy from 3pm to 11pm. To make the recipe:

Place the peeled redcurrants.
Add the Get 27, then the vodka, strawberry syrup and lime juice in an Old Fashion glass.
Mix everything together!

Add Perrier
