Actor, performer, and singer, he performs as a tenor\u2014the highest male vocal range in opera. He belongs to that rare category of voices that combine power and emotion. A former student of the Nice Conservatory, he has captivated opera stages with his distinctive tone. In 2019, he notably took part in the television show The Voice.<\/p>\n

The Voice: A Human and Artistic Adventure<\/h3>\n

The general public discovered Gilles San Juan on television, during his memorable appearance on The Voice. \u201cIt was a wonderful experience\u2014I have nothing but good things to say about it,\u201d he recalls.
Selected from over 50,000 applicants, he charmed the jury with an unexpected repertoire: an Argentine tango, far removed from his usual operatic arias. Julien Clerc, then a member of the jury, was immediately won over. The artist advanced through several rounds of the competition, reaching the \u201cbattles,\u201d where he performed Can\u2019t Take My Eyes Off You.
Beyond the televised competition, what he remembers most is the human richness of the experience and the friendships he formed with the TF1 team, especially with Bruno Berberes, the casting director.<\/p>\n

The Spirit of the Opera Evenings: Luxury, Calm, and Pleasure<\/h3>\n

For Gilles, these three words perfectly capture the spirit of the restaurant Le Si\u00e8cle. \u201cIt\u2019s a place outside of time\u2014essential to life in Nice, to gastronomy, and to hospitality.\u201d In this elegant setting, fine dining and opera come together through the concept of singing waiters\u2014performers who serve while delivering lyrical arias. Through these opera evenings, he seeks to revive the atmosphere of the musical salons of the Belle \u00c9poque, recreating the elegance and harmony that reigned at the end of the 19th century. The concept appeals both to opera lovers and to newcomers alike: the artist offers the public the beauty of his voice in a refined yet intimate setting, where music becomes a universal language.<\/p>\n

An Artistic Bond with Laurie Jauffret<\/h3>\n

On stage, Gilles San Juan performs alongside Laurie Jauffret, a soprano from Nice and his long-time stage partner. Their connection is both musical and personal.
Their paths first crossed in 2013 at the Nice Conservatory. Since then, they have collaborated on numerous events.
The two artists form a genuine lyrical duo\u2014sometimes fiery, always harmonious. Their rapport fuels a unique chemistry born of their shared passion for the stage and for music.<\/p>\n

Opera\u2019s Evolution: Between Tradition and Modernity<\/h3>\n

Opera in France is currently facing challenging times. According to him, this art form must blend tradition and innovation in order to stay alive. His career has led him to collaborate with artists from various disciplines, proving that the lyrical voice can adapt to contemporary creations. He thus takes part in modern projects, such as lending his voice as an instrument in a piece by the promising young composer Nicolas Pesti. For him, opera is at once past, present, and future\u2014it must continue to evolve while preserving its essence, especially in this era of artificial intelligence.

Du 13 au 27 f\u00e9vrier 2021, Nice deviendra la Capitale mondiale de la mode avec la 137e \u00e9dition du Carnaval sur le th\u00e8me \u00ab Roi des animaux \u00bb. Venez admirer le Roi, la Reine et leurs sujets et participer aux extravagants d\u00e9fil\u00e9s de chars, de grosses t\u00eates et aux \u00e9l\u00e9gantes Batailles de Fleurs.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Pendant 15 jours, le Carnaval de Nice, avec ses deux manifestations\u00a0: les Corsi carnavalesques (de jour ou de nuit) et les Batailles de fleurs, imposera son style et vous offrira un spectacle burlesque, magique et initiatique d\u00e9di\u00e9 \u00e0 la mode sous toutes ses coutures.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Les chars cr\u00e9\u00e9s sur le th\u00e8me d\u00e9fileront lors des Corsi carnavalesques (mardis, samedis et dimanche), accompagn\u00e9s de grosses t\u00eates et d\u2019artistes venant du monde entier dans une ambiance festive et populaire, savamment sc\u00e9nographi\u00e9e, pour revisiter l\u2019histoire de la mode, vous faire rire, sourire mais aussi r\u00e9fl\u00e9chir sur la mode et ses dessous. Car si la mode lance des tendances et bouleverse les codes comme les comportements, elle a aussi un r\u00f4le \u00e9thique et responsable \u00e0 jouer.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Les mercredis et samedis apr\u00e8s-midi, venez d\u00e9couvrir l\u2019autre temps du fort du Carnaval\u00a0: les Batailles de Fleurs o\u00f9 le th\u00e8me sera d\u00e9clin\u00e9 sur des chars orn\u00e9s de fleurs valorisant la production locale (80% des fleurs sont produites dans la r\u00e9gion) et anim\u00e9s par des com\u00e9diennes qui porteront des costumes sp\u00e9cialement con\u00e7us pour la manifestation. Un d\u00e9fil\u00e9 unique au monde o\u00f9 des milliers de fleurs seront distribu\u00e9es.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
