Each month, the West End Hotel**** puts the spotlight on one of its employees by sharing their career path, their missions and their sources of motivation on a daily basis. This month, meet Zoey, our assistant housekeeper.

Can you introduce yourself?

My name is Zoey, I’m 20 years old and I’m in my third year of a Bachelor’s degree at the Tunon International School in Nice. I’ve been working as an assistant housekeeper at the West End Hotel since 2 September 2024. I chose the hotel industry because it’s a dynamic sector, particularly on the Côte d’Azur. My role in the hotel is to manage room checks: checking general cleanliness, ensuring that towels are correctly laid out and managing stocks of linen, household products and the mini-bar. I also organise the monthly and daily schedules for the teams.

What are you most passionate about in your job?
What I enjoy most is working with the team, especially the chambermaids. I also enjoy room management and management. Customer satisfaction is of paramount importance to me and knowing that I’ve played my part in making their stay a pleasant one motivates me enormously.

What advice would you give to a new employee?

What advice would you give to a new colleague?

First of all, I’d advise them to be themselves. More specifically, in a housekeeper’s job, you have to be very attentive to the smallest detail, whether it’s the rooms or the communal areas. Being sociable with your colleagues is also essential, because it’s important that there’s a good atmosphere within the team.

What’s your favourite place at the West End Hotel?

If I had to choose one room it would be 506. I really like it, it’s simple but offers a magnificent view of the Promenade des Anglais. The first time I went into this room, I felt very comfortable because it has a special atmosphere.
Otherwise, I really like the hotel lobby; guests often appreciate this space when they arrive. When I went for my job interview, I was impressed by the hotel’s chic and peaceful entrance.

What are your best memories of the hotel?

My best memory is the afterwork organised with the whole team at the West End Hotel. I had just arrived and was very surprised and delighted to be invited. It made it easier for me to integrate into the team. It was an aperitif on the beach in a friendly atmosphere. I was able to get to know the staff and talk to them, and that strengthened our bonds. This kind of event is an excellent way of creating connections between the different departments because we don’t always have the opportunity to meet at work.

What advice would you give customers on how to make the most of their stay?

I’d definitely recommend a stroll along the Promenade des Anglais, but also a visit to Vieux-Nice. It’s a charming and more intimate place than the city centre. I’ve also advised a customer who wanted to explore the area around Nice. I recommended taking the train to discover places like Èze.
