Each month, the West End Hotel is delighted to highlight one of its employees through a series of questions, allowing us to learn more about their job and what motivates them. Today, we are featuring Aedrick De Vera, a receptionist.
Can you introduce yourself?
My name is Aedrick De Vera, I'm from Canada, and I've been working at the West End Hotel for two years now as a receptionist. Before joining the hotel, I worked in the UK in the concierge sector. My daily tasks include guest arrivals and departures (check-in and check-out), room assignments, reservation management, answering phone calls, and handling direct bookings.
I also handle emails and ensure that any requests or complaints are resolved to provide the best possible experience for our customers. What do you enjoy most about your job?
What I enjoy most is the contact with customers. I love communicating with people from all over the world and discovering their stories, cultures, and expectations. Every day is different, and every encounter makes this job particularly enriching.
What advice would you give to a new employee?
I would advise them first and foremost to be patient. During peak season, the pace is very fast, and you sometimes have to deal with complex situations or demanding customers.
It's important to remain calm, listen attentively, and always demonstrate professionalism. What is your favorite spot at the West End Hotel?
I particularly love the hotel's forecourt. It's a place where I can take a few moments to enjoy the sun and the magnificent sea view.
What are your best memories of the hotel?
One of my best memories is arriving at the West End and meeting Tomoko, a hotel receptionist. She immediately gave me a very warm welcome and helped me integrate into the team.
What advice would you give guests to make the most of their stay?
I advise them to fully enjoy everything Nice has to offer: its beaches, its heritage, its culture, and its traditions.
Strolling through the city streets, discovering its Mediterranean atmosphere, and savoring the local cuisine are must-dos. I also recommend having lunch or dinner at Le Siècle restaurant, located within the West End Hotel.
