Each month, the Hotel West End**** is delighted to highlight one of its employees through a series of questions, in order to learn more about their job and what motivates them in their role. Today, the hotel is featuring Alessandro Ciccia, a multi-skilled maintenance worker at the Hotel West End.
Can you introduce yourself?
My name is Alessandro Ciccia, I'm 35 years old, and I'm from Italy, more precisely from the San Remo region. I come from a family of glaziers; it's a skill passed down from father to son. Today, I'm a multi-skilled maintenance technician at the West End Hotel. My role involves handling various types of repairs: plumbing, electrical work, locksmithing, carpentry, and more. It's a very comprehensive job that allows me to get involved in a bit of everything and contribute to the smooth running of the hotel every day.
What do you find most fascinating about your job?
What I love most is the diversity. No two days are the same: every problem is different, every intervention requires thought and responsiveness. I also enjoy the human interaction, whether with my colleagues or with clients. My only slight regret is not speaking fluent English, as many of our clients come from abroad.
What advice would you give to a new employee?
I would tell him to be patient. It's an essential quality, especially in a large establishment like the West End Hotel. You have to be adaptable, remain calm in the face of unforeseen events, and always be attentive. With patience and goodwill, everything will eventually work out.
What is your favorite spot in the West End Hotel?
Honestly, I love the whole hotel. Every space has its own charm, whether it's the rooms, the lounges, or the historic facade. It's a place with a real soul, a blend of elegance and history. It's a pleasure to work here every day.
What are your best memories of the hotel?
I have many memories, but the ones that come to mind most often are the end-of-year parties with colleagues. It's always a friendly time when everyone gets together outside of work.
What advice would you give to guests to make the most of their stay?
I would advise them to enjoy the Promenade des Anglais , but also to discover Nice's heritage. The Masséna Museum, for example, is really worth a visit, as is the Coulée Verte, perfect for a stroll with family or friends.
