Each month, the Hotel West End**** features one of its employees through a series of questions to better understand their role, responsibilities, and what motivates them daily. Today, the hotel presents Gregory Gleizolles, Head Waiter at the Hotel West End.
Can you introduce yourself?
I am 44 years old and have been working in this field for 27 years. During my career, I have worked for the Louvre Hotels Group, among others. I have been at the West End Hotel for five years now, and it is a true pleasure to work in this establishment located on the famous Promenade des Anglais . My role involves supervising the service, organizing schedules, and managing recruitment. I am also responsible for ensuring that each of our guests has an unforgettable culinary experience. I am passionate about wine, a love that stems from my roots, having grown up in the Côtes du Rhône region.
What do you find most fascinating about your job?
What I find most fascinating about my job is, above all, the contact with clients, an area where I feel particularly at ease. Each encounter is an exceptional opportunity to discover diverse profiles and unique stories. Among my most memorable moments, I recall meeting Peter Shilton, the famous English goalkeeper who faced Maradona. It was a captivating experience that perfectly illustrates the richness and intensity of the interactions this profession can offer.
What advice would you give to a new employee?
My advice to a new colleague would be to always choose a job they love and to fully commit to it. Enjoying human interaction is essential, as is an interest in foreign languages, which opens the door to enriching exchanges with clients from all over the world. You need to feel comfortable in what you do and cultivate a positive attitude, full of good vibes. This is the key to success and long-term fulfillment in this profession.
What is your favorite spot in the West End Hotel?
The Mezzanine, with its incredible view of the Promenade des Anglais, is my favorite spot in the West End Hotel. Having a coffee here, even for just five minutes, is a real treat. In the morning, with the beautiful light that bathes the place, it's absolutely magical!
What are your best memories of the hotel?
One of my best memories at the hotel is my first August 15th. That evening, I bet we would welcome more than 100 people to the restaurant . In the end, we served 107! A great success for the whole team!
What advice would you give to guests to make the most of their stay?
I highly recommend that guests take advantage of the opera evenings, as it's a truly unique experience. Even if you're not necessarily an opera enthusiast, the concept itself is fascinating and original. It's a wonderful opportunity to enjoy an exceptional and memorable moment during your stay.
