Portrait: Maëlle Hembert, receptionist intern

Each month, the Hotel West End**** highlights one of its employees through a series of questions designed to better understand their role and daily motivations. Today, the hotel presents Maëlle Hembert, a receptionist apprentice.

Can you introduce yourself?

My name is Maëlle Hembert, I'm 22 years old, and I'm currently completing a two-year apprenticeship at the Hotel West End as part of my studies in hotel and tourism management at the Tunon School. I work at reception, where I'm responsible for welcoming guests from their arrival to their departure. I enjoy introducing them to the city of Nice, recommending activities, and ensuring their stay is as pleasant as possible. Throughout my apprenticeship, I'll have the opportunity to explore other departments, such as housekeeping and seminar organization, to gain a comprehensive understanding of the various roles within the hotel industry.

What do you find most fascinating about your job?

What I'm most passionate about is customer relations. I love human interaction, conversations, smiles, and the satisfaction of being able to help. The West End Hotel welcomes a predominantly tourist clientele, which brings a wonderful cultural diversity. Every encounter is different, and that's what makes the job so dynamic and motivating.

What advice would you give to a new employee?

I would tell him to have confidence in himself and not hesitate to ask questions. You learn a lot on the job, and you shouldn't be afraid to make mistakes. The team at the West End Hotel is very attentive, always ready to help and share their experience. The atmosphere is supportive, and it's an ideal environment for growth.

What is your favorite spot in the West End Hotel?

I particularly love the Hermès lounge and the winter bar, the Horse Guard. These are iconic spaces that perfectly reflect the Belle Époque charm of the hotel. You can feel the entire history of the place there.

What are your best memories of the hotel?

I don't have one particular standout memory yet, as I'm still new to the team. But each day brings its share of discoveries and wonderful encounters.

What advice would you give to guests to make the most of their stay?

I would recommend they take the time to explore Nice and its surroundings: the hilltop villages like Èze , the charming streets of Old Nice, or neighboring towns like Cannes or Villefranche-sur-Mer. And of course, to fully enjoy the beach and the seaside, which are what make the French Riviera so famous.
