Every month, the Hotel West End**** features one of its employees through a series of questions, aiming to provide a better understanding of their role and what motivates them in their daily work. Today, the hotel presents Marie Morales, Head of Seminars and Banquets at this 4-star establishment.
Can you introduce yourself?
My name is Marie, I'm 29 years old, and I'm the Accommodation Manager at the West End Hotel . My main responsibility is to ensure our guests have a pleasant and enjoyable stay, overseeing both reception and housekeeping. My goal is to guarantee seamless coordination between the various hotel departments to provide a smooth, enjoyable, and memorable experience for every guest.
What do you find most fascinating about your job?
I've always been passionate about the hotel industry. In fact, I started my career at the West End Hotel 12 years ago, when I was only 16—a formative first experience that confirmed my calling. Later, I earned a two-year vocational diploma in hotel management, which allowed me to work in some very prestigious establishments and continue to grow professionally.
Two things I find particularly fascinating about my job: firstly, the clients, because we strive to give them a unique stay, far beyond the ordinary; secondly, the relationship we have with our colleagues. Working with different people, building joint projects, developing a team… all of this is extremely enriching and motivating.
What advice would you give to a new employee?
I would tell him that if the desire is there, nothing is impossible. The hotel industry is a profession of passion that requires commitment but offers many opportunities in return. With motivation and discipline, you can go very far.
What is your favorite spot in the West End Hotel?
My favorite spot is the hotel's forecourt. For two reasons: it's the very first place a guest sees upon arrival and the last they see upon departure. It symbolizes both the beginning and the end of a stay. Stepping through these doors, you enter a place steeped in history, founded in 1842, with an atmosphere you don't want to leave… and that makes you want to return.
What are your best memories of the hotel?
I particularly enjoy the summer months because everything speeds up. We welcome a demanding clientele, accustomed to luxury, with specific expectations, especially regarding concierge services. This requires real responsiveness, good coordination, and a lot of support for the teams.
In winter, it's a different, more local atmosphere. We see our regulars again, customers who know us well and who come back because they appreciate our services.
Each season has its own challenges, its own rhythms, its own atmospheres… and that’s what allows me to experience varied, always rich and unique memories.
What advice would you give to guests to make the most of their stay?
I would advise them to start the day with breakfast at La Palmeraie, in a beautiful setting with a wide selection of products. Then, they should explore Old Nice , discover the Cours Saleya market, try a socca, and enjoy the beaches. I also recommend visiting the surrounding area, such as Villefranche-sur-Mer. And to end the day perfectly, they could have an aperitif at the hotel, and ideally, dinner at Le Siècle restaurant to extend the experience in an elegant and welcoming atmosphere.
