Each month, the Hotel West End**** highlights one of its employees by sharing their career path, responsibilities, and daily motivations. This month, meet Zoé, our assistant housekeeper.
Can you introduce yourself?
My name is Zoé, I'm 20 years old, and I'm in my third year of a Bachelor's degree at the Tunon International School in Nice. I've been working part-time as an assistant housekeeper at the West End Hotel since September 2nd, 2024. I chose the hotel industry because it's a dynamic sector, especially on the French Riviera. My role at the hotel involves managing room inspections: checking overall cleanliness, ensuring towels are properly arranged, and managing linen, cleaning product, and minibar stocks. I'm also responsible for organizing the monthly and daily schedules for the teams.
What do you find most fascinating about your job?
What I enjoy most is the relationship with the team, especially the housekeeping staff. I also enjoy room management and administration. Guest satisfaction is paramount to me, and knowing that I've contributed to making their stay enjoyable is a huge motivator.
What advice would you give to a new employee?
First, I would advise her to be herself. More specifically, for the housekeeping profession, you have to be very attentive to the smallest details, whether it's for the rooms or the common areas. Being sociable with colleagues is also essential because it's important to have a good atmosphere within the team.
What is your favorite spot in the West End Hotel?
If I had to choose a room, it would be 506. I love it; it's simple but offers a magnificent view of the Promenade des Anglais. The first time I walked into this room, I felt very comfortable because it has a special atmosphere.
Otherwise, I really like the hotel lobby; guests often appreciate this space upon arrival. Personally, during my job interview, I was impressed by the hotel entrance, which is both elegant and peaceful.
What are your best memories of the hotel?
My best memory is still the after-work event organized with the entire team at the West End Hotel. I had just arrived and was very surprised and delighted to be invited. It helped me integrate into the team more easily. It was a casual get-together on the beach in a friendly atmosphere. I was able to get to know the staff, chat with them, and it strengthened our bonds. This kind of event is an excellent way to create connections between different departments because we don't always have the opportunity to meet at work.
What advice would you give to guests to make the most of their stay?
I highly recommend strolling along the Promenade des Anglais and also visiting Old Nice. It's a charming and more intimate area than the city center. I also once advised a client who wanted to explore the area around Nice. I recommended taking the train to discover places like Èze.
