La Mala beach, Cap d’Ail
Just 15 minutes by train from Nice, the Mala beach in Cap d’Ail is a real gem. Nestled in a secluded cove and bordered by cliffs dotted with villas, the beach embodies the glamour and exclusivity of the south of France. Its turquoise waters invite you to relax, indulge in luxury and even spot a few yachts, for an authentic Mediterranean experience.
Getting there: take the train and get off at the Cap d’Ail stop. From here, it’s a pleasant 15-minute walk to this cove-like bay.
Paloma beach, Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat
Nestling in the Anse de la Scaletta cove in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, Plage Paloma is one of the jewels of the Côte d’Azur. Surrounded by maritime pines, it offers breathtaking views over Beaulieu-sur-Mer and Èze. This beach is prized for its tranquillity and chic atmosphere.
Getting here: from the Hôtel West End, you can take the 15 bus to Nice, and the beach is just a 5-minute walk from the Saint-Jean bus stop. If you prefer the train, get off at Beaulieu-sur-Mer station and enjoy a magnificent walk along the coastal path.
The Baie des Milliardaires, Antibes
Baie des Milliardaires, also known as Anse de l’Argent Faux, is a wild cove on Cap d’Antibes. For a long time accessible only by sea, it opened to the public in June 2011, offering access to this hidden gem. Its name, ‘Baie des Milliardaires’ (Bay of the Billionaires), comes from the number of prestigious yachts that frequent it, and the privacy it offers away from the crowds.
Getting there: take a train from Nice-Ville station to Antibes station. Once there, a short 5-minute walk will take you to the beach.
La Marinière beach, Villefranche-sur-Mer
If you’re looking for a sandy beach close to Nice, Plage de la Marinière is the place to be. Nestling in the heart of the magnificent bay of Villefranche-sur-Mer, this is the most popular beach in the commune. It stretches for more than 700 metres and offers breathtaking views of the turquoise water and the charming ochre facades of the old town. Very popular in summer, it attracts families and young people for its lively atmosphere. It is one of the closest sandy beaches to Nice, making it a very convenient destination from the Hôtel West End.
Directions: Located around 11 minutes’ walk from Villefranche-sur-Mer station, the beach is mainly sand, with a few areas of small pebbles.
