The Nice Carnival, France’s leading carnival with international reach, remains the largest winter event on the French Riviera. Two weeks of celebration, color, and emotion have just come to an end, and the city is already longing for the return of these festive moments.

Looking Back at the 2026 Theme: Long Live the Queen!

For fifteen days, Nice came alive with daytime and nighttime carnival parades, as well as the iconic Flower Battles. Before turning the page, let’s revisit a few floats that marked this edition, full of strength and femininity.

We begin with Tribe Queens, a spectacular five-headed float led by a warrior worthy of Nordic legends, surrounded by figures such as “The African Woman” and “Rebellious India,” symbols of bravery and determination. Next comes Catherine Ségurane, a local heroine. According to tradition, during the Siege of Nice in 1543, she repelled the attackers by lifting her skirt and showing her backside to the troops allied with those of Francis I—a gesture so bold that it reportedly stunned them into retreat.

Another striking figure was the Black Widow, featured on the float “Steal Your Heart”, a venomous creature with vampire-like fangs and a violet complexion, symbolizing a dangerous and unapologetic femininity. Then came the unmissable Frida Kahlo, the feminist and artistic icon, powerfully reinterpreted while remaining faithful to her identity.

Finally, the one who captured the public’s heart and won the vote organized by Nice-Matin: the majestic Carnival Queen, crowned with 40% of the votes.

Carnival 2027: Long Live Love!

During the burning of the King, the symbolic moment that closes each edition, the theme for the next Carnival was revealed: Long Live Love. A universal theme that promises one of the most spectacular editions yet. The event will take place from Tuesday, February 9 to Sunday, February 28, 2027.
