Each month, the West End Hotel**** is delighted to highlight one of its team members through a series of questions, in order to learn more about their profession and what drives them in their role. Today, the hotel is putting the spotlight on Alessandro Ciccia, a multi-skilled maintenance technician at the West End Hotel.

Could you introduce yourself?

My name is Alessandro Ciccia, I am 35 years old and I am originally from Italy, more precisely from the San Remo region. I come from a family of glaziers—it’s a craft that has been passed down from father to son. Today, I work as a multi-skilled maintenance technician at the West End Hotel. My role involves handling various types of repairs: plumbing, electricity, locksmithing, carpentry… It’s a very versatile job that allows me to work on a bit of everything and contribute every day to the smooth running of the hotel.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

What I like most is the variety. No two days are the same: each problem is different, and every task requires thought and responsiveness. I also enjoy the human interaction, whether with my colleagues or with guests. My only small regret is not speaking English fluently, as many of our guests come from abroad.

What advice would you give to a new team member?

I would tell them to be patient. It’s an essential quality, especially in a large establishment like the West End Hotel. You need to know how to adapt, stay calm when faced with unexpected situations, and always remain attentive. With patience and goodwill, everything eventually works out well.

What is your favorite place in the West End Hotel?

Honestly, I like the entire hotel. Every space has its charm, whether it’s the rooms, the lounges, or the historic façade. It’s a place with a real soul—a blend of elegance and history. It’s a pleasure to work there every day.

What are your best memories at the hotel?

I have many, but the ones that come back most often are the end-of-year celebrations with colleagues. It’s always a friendly moment when everyone gets together outside of the work setting.

What advice would you give guests to make the most of their stay?

I would recommend enjoying the Promenade des Anglais, but also discovering Nice’s heritage. The Masséna Museum, for example, is really worth a visit, as is the Coulée Verte, which is perfect for a walk with family or friends.
