Meet Brooklyn2Nice: Funk and Soul energy at Le Siècle restaurant in Nice

Rencontre avec Brooklyn2Nice : l'énergie Funk et Soul au restaurant Le Siècle à Nice<br />

Until early October, Brooklyn2Nice will be rocking the terrace at Le Siècle at the West End Hotel every Tuesday. Behind this evocative name lies a duo of passionate musicians who have been thrilling the French Riviera for over 12 years. We meet Luc Drame, the singer, and Christophe Messalti, the bassist, to find out more about their history, their music and their projects.

Musical alchemy born of a shared passion

Brooklyn2Nice is the story of an artistic encounter. Christophe Messalti, a bassist trained at the Paris Jazz Conservatory, crossed paths with Luc Drame, a singer from Nice with a background in gospel. Initially brought together for a joint event, they quickly discovered that they shared the same tastes and energy. This was the beginning of a collaboration that would lead them to refine their sound over more than a decade.

Their duo revisits the greatest standards of soul, funk and rhythm and blues, paying tribute to the legends who inspired them, such as Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder and Prince. The originality of their formation lies in their use of loops, creating a true symbiosis between vocals and bass, a balance that they perfect with each performance.

An immersive and festive experience

Every Tuesday, from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., Brooklyn2Nice transforms the terrace of Le Siècle into a party venue. Their performance is much more than just a concert: it’s a real interaction with the audience. The atmosphere evolves throughout the evening, shifting from a lounge repertoire at the start of the meal to more danceable tunes. The duo particularly enjoys the proximity to their customers. The West End team, whom they have known for a long time, also contributes to this friendly atmosphere.

One of their fondest memories on the West End stage? The moment when, in a cosy atmosphere, the customers start dancing on the terrace. These moments of sharing and spontaneity are the greatest reward for the group.

The future in music: an educational, large-scale show

Beyond their weekly performances, Luc and Christophe have a project that has been close to their hearts for years: an educational show tracing the history of soul music. It will take the form of a large ensemble with a brass section and will aim to introduce audiences to the history of this musical genre. With this project, Brooklyn2Nice aims not only to entertain, but also to educate a wider audience and perpetuate a musical heritage.

If you want to discover or rediscover them, head to the West End Hotel every Tuesday until early October for a funk and soul evening you won’t soon forget!
