Responsible living on the Côte d’Azur: advice from Hôtel West End

For generations, the Hôtel West End has embodied the art of living in Nice, combining charm, elegance and… responsibility. Because travelling can also mean respecting the environment, our establishment is actively committed to a sustainable approach and invites its visitors to adopt simple but essential gestures.
Hôtel West End’s sustainable commitments
For the third year running, the Hôtel West End is proud to have been awarded the Clef Verte label, the leading international distinction for sustainable tourism in the accommodation sector. Here are three examples of the initiatives implemented at our hotel:
- Elimination of single-dose welcome products: in order to reduce plastic waste and limit wastage, traditional hygiene products have been replaced by eco-designed, refillable dispensers.
- Food waste management: in partnership with Les Alchimistes, specialists in bio-waste recovery, we have collected and transformed 2,930 kg of food waste into compost locally. A circular approach that gives a second life to our waste while nourishing the soil of tomorrow.
- Protecting local biodiversity: In partnership with Mr Torcat, a passionate beekeeper in the region, we are sponsoring local beehives. This initiative helps to protect bees, which are essential for pollination and the balance of ecosystems.
These and many other actions are part of a global approach aimed at offering a holiday that is both enjoyable and responsible.
Tips for an eco-responsible holiday on the Côte d’Azur
Respect for the environment doesn’t stop at the hotel door! As travellers, you have a key role to play. Here are a few tips to make your stay even greener:
- Separate your rubbish: even on holiday, it’s still important to separate your rubbish! Waste bins with compartments are available in the hotel. Please use them to separate your waste properly.
- Choose natural products: when shopping, choose local, natural and environmentally-friendly products. This supports local producers and limits pollution.
- Respect local nature: in the parks, gardens and footpaths of the Côte d’Azur, take care not to pick plants or disturb wildlife. Some species are endangered.
Together, let’s make every holiday an opportunity to preserve the natural treasures of the Côte d’Azur, today and for future generations!
